History, Capacity and Technology
Bhansali Engineering Polymers Limited (BEPL) was incorporated in 1986 with a capital outlay of Rs. 367 million, and has been first Indian company to set up ABS manufacturing plant with foreign technology. The manufacturing facility was set up at village Satnoor in Madhya Pradesh, with technical collaboration with Sumitomo Chemical Engineering Company, Japan to produce world-class quality ABS resins. In 1990, BEPL started manufacturing general purpose injection moulding, extrusion and speciality grades of ABS and its alloys, required for automobiles, home appliances, telecommunication, luggage, bus body and various other applications.
Expansion
Demand for ABS in the domestic as well as global markets is increasing with massive growth opportunities in the major user segments. To keep pace with the growing demand, we enhanced our capacity from 7500 TPA in 1990 to 15000 in the year 1996. With the acquisition of erstwhile Polychem Limited at Vadodara in 2000, we added facility for manufacturing Merchant SAN. With further expansion and addition of balancing equipment at both the units at Satnoor and Vadodara, our installed capacity has gone up to 30000 TPA in 2002. Company has the strategy to grow by increasing market share, Domestic as well as Exports, together with acquisition of adequate infrastructure and poised for a big leap by Mar'05. BEPL had identified exports as a thrust area and had begun preparations to take challenges posed by international market. |
